EU Parliament: Presidential elections failed to meet OSCE standards

Source:

The European Parliament just voted at a plenary session in Strasbourg on the following amendment, which concerns the European Neighborhood Policy report. It asserts: “The European Parliament regrets the fact that, according to the conclusions of the ODIHR long-term mission, the latest presidential election, held on 9 October 2013, once again failed to meet OSCE standards; The European Parliament calls, in view of this, on the Azerbaijani authorities to address and swiftly implement all the recommendations included in present and past ODIHR/OSCE reports.”

This is the last word from the European Parliament on the Azerbaijani presidential elections. It overrules the prior statement from the EP observers mission which stated that the elections were “free and fair”.
