Peskov said that the President of Azerbaijan will attend as a guest
On May 25, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will attend the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
It is reported that the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmonov, will also participate in the event via video link.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, told the local media about this.
According to D. Peskov, it is important that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attends the meeting as a guest for the first time today.
The meeting of the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) countries in the Kremlin has already begun.
The presidents of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, are participating in the summit.
D. Peskov said that V. Putin will hold separate bilateral meetings with each one of the participants today.
According to the president’s press secretary, two separate meetings with Pashinyan and Aliyev are planned, followed by tripartite talks.
He also said that joint documents are expected to be signed at the EU summit.
The Eurasian Economic Union is a political and economic organization established by an agreement signed by Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia in May 2014. Armenia became a member of the union in October of that year.
The activity of the Union officially started on January 1, 2015.
