Baku is “exerting every effort to make peace between Russia and Turkey,” according to Ali Hasanov, the National Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of Department on Social Political Issues.
Hasanov made these comments during an interview with the news channel ANS on March 21, according to

“Relations between Turkey and Russia are a separate issue. As you know, we have strategic partnerships with both countries. Therefore, we do not want the deterioration of relations between our two strategic allies and strategic partners. We are in a difficult situation, so we try to build our state policy in a balanced way so that we do not have to choose,” he said.
“The policy of the Azerbaijani President aims to build relationships with each country individually, based on common interests. We try to make sure that Turkey and Russia reconcile, that these countries find common interests and build forward-looking relations without looking back,” the presidential aide added.
In November 2015, Ilham Aliyev
said
during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu that Azerbaijan was ready to play the role of a peace broker between Turkey and Russia.
“Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to reducing and eliminating tension in the Russian-Turkish relations,” Aliyev said.
