Aliyev was in Turkey in the Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital receiving treatment for a critical heart condition as of June 8. He passed away on June 9.
On June 4 Natiq Aliyev was hospitalized in the Central Hospital of Oil Workers, and then sent to Turkey for his heart problems.
Natik Aliyev was born on November 23, 1947 in Baku.
In October 2013 he was appointed Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan.
From 1993 to 2005, he held the post of president of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Chairman of the Board of Directors.
