€5 million for good governance in Azerbaijan - what has changed?
On 25 October 2018, the Council of Europe and the European Union presented the results of projects implemented in the framework of their Partnership for Good Governance program which aims to strengthen the freedom of expression and the media, increase the independence and efficiency of the judiciary and build capacities to fight corruption in the public administration. During the last three years, a total of €5.2 million have been invested to achieve these goals.
Investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova attended the presentation and spoke to CoE representatives, highlighting Azerbaijan's shortcomings in the fields of media freedom and good governance and questioning the effectiveness of the implemented programs.
While you are here …
We have a small favor to ask of you. In an environment where information is under tight government control, Meydan TV works hard to ensure that people have access to quality independent journalism. We shed light on stories you might otherwise not read because we believe that those who cannot speak up deserve to be heard, and those in power need to be held accountable. We invest considerable time, effort and resources to do so, which is why we need your help.
Your support empowers our courageous journalists, many of whom work at great personal risk to freedom and safety. Every contribution to the protection of independent journalism in Azerbaijan matters. Thank you.SUPPORT US
