On 25 October 2018, the Council of Europe and the European Union presented the results of projects implemented in the framework of their Partnership for Good Governance program which aims to strengthen the freedom of expression and the media, increase the independence and efficiency of the judiciary and build capacities to fight corruption in the public administration. During the last three years, a total of €5.2 million have been invested to achieve these goals.
Investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova attended the presentation and spoke to CoE representatives, highlighting Azerbaijan’s shortcomings in the fields of media freedom and good governance and questioning the effectiveness of the implemented programs.
