According to Kamran Aliyev’s order, he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General in Nakhchivan
On December 29, Sanan Pashayev was appointed to replace Muharram Talibov, who was released from the post of Deputy Prosecutor General of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
According to the order of the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, Sanan Pashayev was appointed a new deputy prosecutor of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
M. Talybov is the brother of Vasif Talybov, the former chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an Azerbaijan exclave.
The newly appointed Pashayev worked as the Deputy Head of the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office. During his time there, his name was mentioned in violations of the rights of civil society members, media representatives and political activists during investigation processes.
He is one of the investigators who conducted the inquiry into the activities of human rights defenders Leyla Yunus, Intigam Aliyev, researcher-journalist Khadija Ismayil, as well as Meydan TV and Radio Liberty.
His name was also mentioned in the case of the torturing of Babek Hasanov, a member of the People’s Democratic Party and a veteran of Karabakh.
On December 21, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, resigned from his position. A day later, an authorized representative office of the President of Azerbaijan was established in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
In this regard, the signed decree states that the central and local executive authorities, other state institutions shall carry out their activities in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in a coordinated manner with the authorized representative.
