On June 28, five oil workers were injured in Azerbaijan as a result of an accident on the Caspian Sea. They have been hospitalized with various bodily injuries, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) press service
reports.
According to the press release, on June 28, the “Arya 141” boat of the “Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping” company with employees of the Department of Geophysics and Geology conducting seismic exploration work on an oil site lost control and hit an underwater object on the site of oil rig No. 34.
As a result, five of the seven people on board the boat suffered heavy bodily injuries. They were quickly hospitalized. The incident is being investigated, SOCAR notes.
Recall that on December 15, 2016, a strong wind at five in the morning on Thursday carried a part of a trestle to sea at a length of about 150 meters at the oil and gas station of the Nariman Narimanov Oil and Gas Production Management Company in the Caspian Sea. Then 10 oil workers died.
On December 4, 2015, another tragedy took place on the Caspian Sea: the Guneshli offshore oil producing platform caught fire after the breakdown of a gas pipeline caused by a severe storm in the Caspian Sea.
At the time of the accident on the platform 63 oil workers were present on board. As a result of rescue operations, 33 people were saved, bodies of 11 dead were found and 19 people are still considered missing.
