On December 11, Radio Kafe in Baku will host a book presentation of “Shah-in Shah” (Szachinszach, 1982), by famous Polish writer and journalist, Ryszard Kapuściński.
Ryszard Kapuściński is one of the most famous Polish non – fiction writers. Some of his more well – known works include
Emperor,
a work on Haile Selassie, the last emperor of Ethiopia, and “Empire”, which speaks of daily life in the town of Pinsk under occupying Soviet forces.
He was brought world acclaim for his reportages on political revolutions and social upheaval in various countries. He has received numerous literary awards and has been on multiple occasions a candidate for a Nobel prize.
The book was translated into Azerbaijani by the former political prisoner, Rashadat Akhundov, one of seven activists of the N!DA Civic Movement that were arrested in March of 2013 and accused of possessing explosive devices and drugs. They were all recognized by Amnesty International as ‘prisoners of conscience.’
