“He took me out of the cell while twisting my hands. He then threw me on the floor of another empty cell. He began pulling out my hair and beating me into kidneys”.
This is what Leyla Yunus had to share with her lawyers during a meeting on September 24 during their visit.
Yunus was clear in her warnings to the international community and to her supporters at home that an attack was imminent, and that her cell mate was threatening her constantly. She wasn’t expecting to be beaten by a prison ward instead.
The prison ward declined to comment on any of the mistreatment.
Yunus is nominated for Sakharov Prize 2014.
