On July 24, former parliamentarian and businessman Dunyamin Khalilov, accused of not returning a loan taken from the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA), has been
sentenced
to 13 years in prison.
Recall that the prosecutor had formerly asked for 14 years in prison for Khalilov.
The owner of Globus Plaza Dunyamin Khalilov is also accused of fraud. He was detained in February 2016 as a result of an operation carried out by officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Back in summer of 2015 a process of arresting persons who took unreturned loans from the IBA began. Several prominent businessmen were arrested in this process.
Khalilov was charged under Article 178.3.2 (fraud with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
