The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on June 1, 2015 convicted Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) youth activist
Elvin Abdullayev
of drug possession on a large scale and sentenced him to 6 years in prison. Abdullayev is a vocal opponent of the regime, who repeatedly made Facebook posts criticizing the Azerbaijani authorities. His family believes that the charges are politically motivated.
