Electricity rates rise in Azerbaijan

The decision comes into effect as of today.

Azerbaijan has raised rates on the wholesale and retail price of electricity.

APA reported

 that this news was announced by the Secretariat of the

Tariff (Price) Council of Azerbaijan

 on the 14th of July, which held a joint meeting with companies “Azerishiq” and “Azerenerji.”

According to the decision, the wholesale price of 1 kW/h of electricity will be maintained at 4.3 qepik ($0.03), and the retail price for 1 kW/h of electricity at 7 qepik ($0.04). These are the same tariffs from 2007.

The decision will come into affect today.

As was reported in the announcement by the Tariff council, the raising of electricity prices is intended to ensure the stability and durability of service quality and power supply, in addition to lowering certain financial risks and providing for the future and long – term development of the electric producers of the country and the power grid.
