The State Frontier Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan released information about the arrest of Gozel Bayramli, deputy chairwoman of the Popular Front Party (PFPA) on May 26.
According to the press-service of the SBS, at about 10 p.m. on May 25, Bayramli was detained after “an inspection of her hand luggage was carried out. Employees found 12 thousand undeclared US dollars. The investigative department of the State Border Service launched a criminal case under Article 206.1 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Investigative measures are now being taken”, the report said.
Deputy Chairwoman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Gozel Bayramli was detained on May 25 at customs while returning from Georgia. She informed chairman of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli of her detention.
Kerimli later posted news of the event on his personal Facebook page, commenting that “something was slipped into Bayramli’s bag”.
