Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmedov says big changes are coming to Azerbaijan’s government structure.

Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmedov says big changes are coming to Azerbaijan’s government structure.

“It’s about significant changes, both in vertical and horizontal directions of management”.

“Reducing the state apparatus is an inevitable component of public administration reform in Azerbaijan”, the Deputy Prime Minister noted in an article published in the official newspaper Azerbaycan.

According to him

, “The inevitable and at the same time sensitive component of the reforms in the sphere of public administration is optimization.”

“The unjustified inflation of the bureaucratic apparatus is observed in many countries. This is accompanied by both an increase in budget expenditures and a decrease in the quality of management”, Ahmedov added.

Referring to the State Statistics Committee, Ahmedov noted that in 2015, 287.3 thousand people worked in the spheres of state administration, defense and social security in Azerbaijan. At the same time over the last 5 years, significant growth has been observed in the same field since 2010, when the number of employees in the sphere of state administration, defense and social security was 279 thousand people.

“Out of every 10,000 people living in Azerbaijan, 287 are involved in public administration, while in the United States, Germany, Japan and Russia this figure is 100-110 people”, said Ahmedov.
