A service member of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Nahid Zahid Soltanov, was shot by an Armenian sniper while on duty on July 14.
The incident took place in the village of Zangishali village in the Aghdam region.
The fact was confirmed to Meydan TV by the soldier’s brother Elchin Soltanov. According to his brother, Nahid Soltanov has been seriously injured, and has been taken to the Military Hospital in Papanin on July 16.
“We do not know how it happened. His condition is critical, and God knows what will happen then. We are just waiting, now.”
Elchin Soltanov also added that, in August Nahid was supposed to complete his one year of military service.
Nahid Soltanov is a citizen of Qizilburun village of Hajiqabul region. He was called up for obligatory military service by the Military Commission in 2016.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has not released any information about the soldier’s injury.
In the first half of 2017, 38 service members lost their lives;
22 of them died in non-combat conditions.
