Azerbaijan Comes in 76 in Social Progress Ranking

Azerbaijan came in 76th place out of 128 countries in the Social Progress Index-2017, published by the American non-profit organization Social Progress Imperative.

This index is an average indicator characterizing the development trend in the main social spheres. In first place in the list was Denmark, in second – Finland, in third – Iceland. The United States came in 18th place on the list, Ukraine in 64, Belarus by 65. Russia took 67th place in the rating of “social progress”. According to the compilers of the rating, China ranks 83 in the list, and the most “non-social” countries are Chad, Afghanistan and the Central African Republic, which ranked the last three positions in the rating, respectively.

The social progress index takes into account the basic criteria of social welfare of the population, such as housing, nutrition, hygiene, access to education, information, water, the state of the environment, the situation with individual rights, security and tolerance of national minorities.
