Head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev spoke today about the possibility of cancelling the

visa regime

between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

Hajiyev says that within the framework of the upcoming EU – Azerbaijan talks on April 25, this is one of the topics that will be discussed.

The April 25 talks will form the base for what is hoped to be a new strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the European Union. The talks will take place in Baku.

The possibility of the liberalization of the visa regime between Armenia and the EU was also expressed by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian recently.

“The next step is the dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime envisaged in the declaration of the Riga summit of the Eastern Partnership,” Nalbandian said.

According to him, mobility and human contacts are one of the key principles laid down in the basis of the “Eastern Partnership”.

One of the ways to implement this initiative and the even greater convergence of the societies of Armenia and the EU is the liberalization of the visa-regime.
