reported on September 5.

During the two-hour questioning, she was asked about the events in Mingachevir and Meydan TV’s activities. Farhadova was asked whether she receives a salary from Meydan TV, and who else works there.

Farhadova is the sixth journalist questioned over Meydan TV’s activities since September 1.

Earlier, Izolda Aghayeva, Natiq Javadli, Javid Abdullayev,

Sevinc Vaqifqizi and Shirin Abbasov, who collaborate with Meydan TV on a freelance basis, were

summoned

to the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor’s office for questioning. The journalists were informed that they would be questioned about their coverage of last month’s events in Mingachevir, even though some of them were not even present in Azerbaijan during the events. On August 20, detainee Bahruz Hajiyev died in police custody in Mingachevir, western Azerbaijan. The death prompted protests over police brutality.

However, the majority of the questions during the hours-long interrogations revolved around Meydan TV’s activities. The journalists say that Mingachevir was “a pretext for questioning.”
