Nigar Hazi: “The police did not leave the room during the meeting with Bahruz Bayramov [his lawyer]”
A member of the Musavat Party and the National Council, Tofig Yagublu, who is currently in administrative detention, was not given the opportunity to meet privately with his lawyer.
The daughter of Tofig Yagublu, Nigar Hazi, who reported on this, said that the police officer did not leave the room during her father’s meeting with lawyer Bahruz Bayramov on January 3.
“As if Tofig Yagublu was unjustly and innocently imprisoned was not enough, he is still not given comfort in the detention center. This is a gross violation of the law. In this regard, the court will be appealed”, she adds.
Yagublu is in the Administrative Detention Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry has not made any statement regarding what was said.
The activist was detained in the center of Baku on December 23 during a protest demanding the release of social activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev.
On the same day, the Sabail District Court arrested him for 30 days on charges of petty hooliganism and disobeying the police.
Tofig Yagublu has been in prison many times before.
Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was arrested for 1 month and 20 days by the decision of Khatai District Court of Baku on December 9 last year. He is charged with active disorderly conduct and contempt of court. He does not accept the charges.
