The liquidation commission will apply to the Ministry of Justice for dissolution

The General Assembly of “Transparency Azerbaijan,” the Public Union against Corruption, which holds the status of the national section of the international organization “Transparency International,” has decided to dissolve the public union. In accordance with the decision of the General Assembly, a Liquidation Commission (liquidator) has been appointed.

The Executive Director of “Transparency Azerbaijan,” Alimammad Nuriyev, reported that, in order to register the information about the NGO’s liquidation process in the state register of legal entities, the Liquidation Commission (liquidator) will apply to the Ministry of Justice in accordance with the established procedure. Later, the Liquidation Commission (liquidator) will carry out the necessary procedures in accordance with the legislation. All local and international partners will be informed about this decision.

“Transparency Azerbaijan” was founded in October 2000. As a fully authorized local section, it was accredited by “Transparency International” in October 2001, and was re-accredited in August 2006. The organization presented its mission as “to study the causes, forms, and ways to reduce this dangerous social phenomenon of corruption in Azerbaijan.”

One of the organization’s founders is Rana Safaraliyeva. Rana Safaraliyeva was also the executive director of the organization until 2019. She is currently a member of the organization’s Board of Directors. Rana Safaraliyeva is the mother-in-law of Fuad Naghiyev, the head of the State Tourism Agency, who was severely reprimanded by President Ilham Aliyev yesterday.

Yesterday, several local media outlets reported on the reasons for this severe reprimand. According to their reports, the agency led by Fuad Naghiyev had leaked official correspondence. It is reported that Fuad Naghiyev’s circle has been consistently leaking official information to various organizations and individuals. Even internal communications between government agencies have been forwarded to foreign embassies in Azerbaijan.
