Azerbaijan and Ukraine are hammering out details of the upcoming visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Azerbaijan. Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aleksandr Mischenko told

on May 8, 2015 that Poroshenko’s visit would be filled with “real, pragmatic content, and not a visit for the sake of a visit.”
The foreign ministry deputies of both states have held political consultations as part of preparations for the visit, Mischenko noted. They are planning to discuss energy, military cooperation and agriculture.
Earlier in January this year, Mischenko announced that the Ukrainian President would pay an official visit to Azerbaijan later this year,

reported.
“We are preparing a big agenda for this year. We are planning the visit of Ukrainian President Poroshenko,” Mishchenko said.
He also noted that Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov would visit Ukraine later this year.
The diplomat stressed that Poroshenko’s visit to Azerbaijan would be preceded by a visit of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to Ukraine, and the meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation that would be held in Baku. Afterward, the two sides will determine the date of Poroshenko’s visit.
