On December 6, soldier Adil Guliyev was shot dead by the fellow ensign Jeyhun Ahmedov at the military unit near Alibayli village in a random act of violence. The village is located in the Tovuz district, northwestern Azerbaijan. Guliyev’s bereaved family believes that Ahmedov was intoxicated when he gunned down Guliyev. Acts of violence are not uncommon in the Azerbaijani military. The defense ministry said that a criminal case was launched into this matter.
