A pretrial hearing was held on February 24 in the case of Mehman Huseynov, an Azerbaijani blogger who was detained in February in connection with his video channel that detailed the residences of high-ranking Azerbaijani officials.
The hearing was held at Surakhani District Court. Charges were brought against Huseynov personally by the Chief of Nasimi District Police Station Musa Musayev after Huseynov claimed the chief had tortured him during his initial detention last month.
In response, Musayev decided to sue Mehmanov for slander.
The court has decided to proceed with the case.
The trial is scheduled to begin on February 27 at 9:30 a.m.
