Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to visit Baku soon, the Russian foreign ministry said, but the date of his arrival has yet to be determined.
“I can say that this visit will take place, and as soon as the date is determined with our Azerbaijani colleagues, we will certainly inform you about the date and the program of the visit,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing in Moscow.
Earlier in February, a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan were planning to meet in Baku at an unspecified time,
Turan
reported. The meeting will reportedly focus on the implementation of the agreements reached at the
meeting
of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in late February.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin
confirmed
on March 27 that the trilateral meeting would take place but did not provide the date.
“Yes, the meeting is being planned. Let’s wait for it,” Karasin said, according to Gazeta.ru.
