“The scenarios implemented in the Middle East have been prepared for Azerbaijan. In 2011-12, some foreign circles talked about the inevitability of the ‘Arab Spring’ in Azerbaijan, and  made thousands of attempts to destabilize the situation,” Aliyev said. “They wanted to organize ‘Maidan’ in Azerbaijan and ruined the lives of young people who joined the dirty business.”

“Millions of dollars  were spent through NGOs at destabilizing the situation in the country, and the ‘fifth column’ in Azerbaijan were directed to bring to power people Ministering certain circles,” Ilham Aliyev said.

“I do not take these processes differently. Only enemies of the Azerbaijani people and the state could participate in these affairs,” he added.

Then he spoke about refugees from the Middle East, blaming the West for their problems.

“Western media day and night, spread shots, as if these people are to blame for the situation. They are not to blame – they are the victims of a deliberate policy of foreign intervention,” Aliyev said.
