Family demands martyr status for fallen son

These were the words said by Zabil Orujov – the brother of fallen Azerbaijani soldier, Raqub Orujov, in an interview with a correspondent of Qafqazinfo.az.

According to him, his father spent much time waiting in different government corridors with a request to have his son awarded the started of martyr.

“They didn’t listen to my father anywhere. After the heart attack, he hasn’t been able to move already 20 days. He is in very bad condition. At the moment, he and my brother’s family are living in Sumqayit dormitory No. 1. My father went a number of times to Baku and appealed to the Ministry of Defense. But they always escorted him out of the building.” says Zabil Orujov.

The wife of Raqub Orujov, Sevinch Orudjova, says that since her husband has died, his family has not received neither a stipend nor any social aide.

Director of public affairs of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Elman Babayev, started that after the appeal of the soldier’s wife on the 3rd of August in the Ministry, the needed documents were collected and the family of the martyr were given 1039 manat.

“The sum will be transferred to them within four months”, he added.

Lieutenant Raqub Orujov died on April 4th, 2016, during a fight for the village of Talysh. He was buried on the 5th of April on Martyrs’ Alley in the city of Sumqayit.
