Azerbaijani economy has shrunk by more than 4 percent


GDP per capita amounted to 2239,4 AZN.

In 2016, in between the months of January and May, Azerbaijan’s GDP amounted to close to 21.5 billion manat, which is 4.2 percent less for the same period of the proceeding year.

According to information provided by the State Statistics Committe, the main reason for the decrease in GDP was the decreased activity of the construction and services sectors of the country.

The GDP was broken down as follows: 39.8% industry; 12.2% commerce; 8.6% construction; 6.6% transport and shipping; 3.5% rural agriculture and fishery; 3.2% tourism and charity; 2% telecommunications; 16.4% other industries.

Net taxes on products and imports amounted to 7.7%.

The GDP per capita amounted to 2239,4 AZN.
