An Azerbaijani diplomat’s wife was caught shoplifting from a Marshalls department store in the Bronx, NYC, on Wednesday, reports the NY Daily News.
The diplomat’s wife, Mehriban Jabrayilova, allegedly tried using a baby stroller to hide her pinched items.
The total amount of stolen items totaled more than $180.
When confronted by the cops, Jabrayilova said she is married to Azerbaijan’s First Secretary Farid Jabrayilov and thus has diplomatic immunity.
The State Department has not yet commented on whether it will revoke the couple’s diplomatic immunity or not.
