Azerbaijan would like to enjoy a visa-free regime with the EU for its citizens, says Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev.
According to him, the parties are faced with a series of issues that need to be resolved, after which an action plan for the introduction of visa-free entry to the EU will be prepared.
“When this will happen I can not say. It depends on both sides. Azerbaijan is expected to hold a meeting of the Committee on visa facilitation and readmission, maybe at this meeting we will achieve some progress in this direction”, Mammadguliyev said.
According to him, while the parties are at the stage of simplifying the visa regime, the complete abolition of the visa regime between Azerbaijan and the EU is a matter of the future.
Yesterday on June 11, a visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU countries came into effect. Citizens of Georgia received visa-free travel to the EU on March 28 of this year.
