Arzu Abdullayeva receives Helsinki Civil Society Award

On November 19, the Netherlands Helsinki Committee, a non-governmental organization promoting human rights, democracy and the rule of law, recognized Arzu Abdullayeva for her contribution to the diplomatic settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and human rights protection in Azerbaijan.

for her contribution to the diplomatic settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and human rights protection in Azerbaijan.

“We congratulate Arzu Abdullayeva from Azerbaijan and Andrey Yurov from Russia as the Laureates of the Inaugural Helsinki Civil Society Award,” the Netherlands Helsinki Committee stated.

“We are proud to celebrate the efforts of these distinguished leaders who have ardently committed themselves to the pursuit of just, rights-based societies.”

The Helsinki Civil Society Award aims to support the activities that are based on and contribute to the legacy of the Helsinki Principles. Working in conjunction with the OSCE, the committee focuses on conflict prevention and the promotion of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.

Abdullayeva is the head of Azerbaijan Office of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly.
