A couple from a nearby city of Sumgayit committed an act of self-immolation in front of the presidential apparatus in Baku, in what appears to be another case of frustration turn-into-self-immolation. The couple, was reported to protest the demolition of their house despite an existing court order in Sumgayit to stop the demolition.
This is not the first case of self-immolation in protest- last year, Karabakh war veteran was reported to commit a similar act in desperation for the demolition of his commercial facility.
The couple is reported to be in a critical condition suffering from various burn degrees.
